You will need:
- 14 ft. of green #18 Twisted Nylon Seine Twine
- 10" of 24-gauge gold craft wire
- 3/8" by 1/2" mini wooden spool or 3/8" diameter bead
- Water-based fabric stiffener
- Gold glitter
- Stain or paint for spool (optional)
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
- Needle nose pliers

Assembly: |
| Step 1. Cut 14 ft. of green #18 twisted seine twine. Following the fabric stiffener's instructions, coat the twine and let dry. (Note: if desired, stain or paint wooden spool) |
|
| Step 2. Cut a 10" length of wire. Thread one end through the hole in the spool or bead and twist one end of the wire into a series of small loops at the bottom to secure. |
|
| Step 3. Using the other end of the wire like a needle, thread the stiffened twine onto the wire starting 1-1/4" from one end. |
|
| Step 4. Make a 1-1/4" loop in the twine and thread it onto the wire. Continue in this manner, making nine more 1-1/4" loops and threading them onto the wire one at a time. Continue threading loops onto the wire in the following order: ten 1" loops, ten 3/4" loops, fifteen 1/2" loops, and fifteen 1/4" loops. |
|
| Step 5. Slide the loops down onto the wire next to the spool or bead until the loops are tightly compressed. Continue to fill the remaining length of wire with 1/4" loops until the wire is covered with loops for approximately 2-1/3". |
|
| Step 6. Cut the twine 8" above the last loop. Tie a knot in the end of the twine and thread it onto the wire below the knot to make a loop for hanging. Trim the end of the twine next to the knot and apply a drop of glue to secure. Let dry. |
|
| Step 7. Tightly compress the loops again and make two small loops in the wire to secure. |
|
| Step 8. Use the remainder of wire to form a crude star at the top of the tree. Trim excess wire away as needed. |
|
| Step 9. Evenly distribute the loops around the wire to form a tree shape. Dip the completed tree into fabric stiffener again and then dip the ends of the loops into glitter to decorate. Let dry. Your tree is now complete! |
