How to make a cross stitch ornament using Lehigh Nylon Twine |
 |
|
You can cross stitch with Lehigh's nylon Holiday Twine just as you would with your usual embroidery floss.
Sales Representative Linda Keglovics used this technique to create her Second Place winning entry in The Lehigh Group's 2002 Employee Holiday Decoration Contest. |

NOTE: Linda's pattern, JOY, was designed by Sandy Riggs. You can find the pattern at The Family.com website, or use a pattern of your own choosing. If you stitch your own pattern, your cloth should be large enough to allow 14 rows on top, bottom and both sides of the design for a border and fringe. |
|
Assembly: |
| Step 1. Separate the Holiday Twine into three single strands. Using only one strand of Holiday Twine to stitch, center the design on your piece of cloth following the pattern for JOY or your own pattern. |
| Step 2. Lay the stitched piece on top of the second piece of Aida cloth, wrong sides together. Leaving 10 rows around the design, hand stitch the top, side and bottom of the two pieces together using white thread. Stuff with poly fiberfill and sew the remaining side closed. |
| Step 3. Pull out the rows of Aida cloth to create a fringe, leaving two rows next to the hand stitching intact. |
| Step 4. To create a hanger: Using all three strands of twine, draw needle from back of ornament to front, leaving enough of a tail to knot. Then draw needle from front to back of design leaving approximately 15-20 spaces in between and creating a 5" loop. Knot securely. |
