This bracelet and necklace set is a fun-to-make craft project using Lehigh's brightly colored nylon seine twine.We used NSTPKCC Flying Colors Twisted Nylon Seine Twine - contains yellow, green, pink, orange, gold. Our examples were made using yellow, green, pink and orange.
You will need:
Four different colors of #18 Lehigh Twisted Nylon Seine Twine cut to the following lengths:
Bracelet:
30" of each color of twisted nylon twine (7" finished size)
One 3/8" diameter bead (make sure the hole in the bead is big enough to fit four pieces of twine)
Necklace:
For 18" finished size: 80" of each color of twisted nylon twine
For 20" finished size: 88" of each color of twisted nylon twine
One 3/8" diameter bead (make sure the hole in the bead is big enough to fit four pieces of twine)
Ruler
Scissors
White glue
Clothespins (squeeze type)
Step 1. Measure and cut the number and lengths of twine required. Align one end of each piece of twine, thread the bead onto twine and slide it down onto the twine 4". (Hint: wrapping a small piece of tape tightly around the ends of the twine can help guide the
pieces through the hole.)
Step 2. With the 4" end of the twine pieces, form a loop by folding
the twine pieces over onto themselves and grasping them firmly between
your thumb and index finger. Wrap the bead across your thumb and
behind the loop, push the bead through the loop towards you and
pull the short ends of the twine pieces to secure the knot close
to the bead.
Step 3. Trim the ends of the twine close to the knot and apply a dot of glue to the knot to secure. Let dry.
Step 4. Slightly separate the individual threads at the end of each
twine piece. Hold one thread between the thumb and index finger
of one hand and with the other hand gently push the remaining
threads toward the bead to "gather" them. Gather the
threads to approximately 12" for bracelet, 23" for 18"
necklace and 28" for 20" necklace. Repeat this process
of each piece of twine. (Hint: Try to gather the threads evenly
along each piece of twine.)
Step 5. Apply a drop of glue to the ends of the gathers of each piece
of twine. Clamp with a clothespin just above the glue and allow
to dry. When dry remove the clothespins and trim all threads
close to the glue dot. 
Step 6. Working with the end opposite the bead, slide the gathered threads
back towards the bead to create an 8" section that is without
gathers. Repeat for each piece of twine.
Step 7. Align the twine ends and fold the pieces over onto themselves
to create approximately a 2" loop. Knot securely. (Note:
loop must be large enough to slide over bead.) Trim ends of twine close to knot and apply a dot of glue to
knot to secure. Let dry.
